Mental Health Services (UHS) Clinical Services: To get started with mental health resources on campus, new students schedule a phone screening, called Access appointments, to collaboratively determine a student’s needs and connect the student to the best resources.

Groups & Self-Referral: Group counseling is available for many different topic areas, types of support, and communities served. For a full list of groups and descriptions and information on how to get started, click the link.

Let’s Talk: Virtual, online versions of informal one-on-one drop-in consultations with a counselor will run throughout the semester.

Student Success Workshops: MHS’s Student Success Workshops have includes topics such as test anxiety, attention and focus, and time management.

Survivor Services: Support available to student survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, and/or stalking.

Advocacy Services: Help for students with accommodations, information about rights and reporting options, accompaniments, referrals, and consultations.

SilverCloud: An online, self-guided, interactive mental health resource that provides students with accessible treatment options 24 hours a day (app available). SilverCloud’s evidence-based learning modules address: Anxiety, Depression, Body image, and Stress.

Badger Support Network: a student organization that focuses on peer support and connection. BSN is composed of peer led student groups that meet regularly throughout the semester.

Suicide Prevention Training for UW-Madison Students: A training for bystanders on how to support a peer in distress. Help is available.

Connecting Badgers Podcast: Connecting Badgers is a podcast hosted by Mental Health Services staff discussing topics relevant to our campus communities.  Episodes last fall included ADHD and self-diagnosis, men’s mental health, and coping with end of semester stress.

One-On-One Wellness Coaching: One-on-one wellness coaching provides an opportunity for you to meet individually with a wellness coach, as needed, about wellness goals. One-on-one meetings are approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your needs.

Group Wellness Coaching: Wellness Circles meet once a week for four weeks at various times and spaces around campus. There is also a virtual option. Each meeting will include mindfulness practice, a mini-lesson on wellbeing, reflection time, discussion, wellness coaching, and goal setting for the following week.
